The Danish/Islandic design duo Hee Welling (1974) and Gudmundur Ludvik (1970) met at the Danish Design School in Copenhagen. Ludvik is also a trained carpenter and sculptor from the Academy of Fine Arts in Reykjavik, Iceland, and Welling has studied furniture at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, Finland.
After their studies, Welling and Ludvik established a design studio community, and in 2010 they joined forces by founding Welling/Ludvik. Hee Welling and Gudmundur Ludvik both have their roots in Scandinavian design, and always seek to maximise the potential of modern manufacturing methods when designing.
Since 2010, Icelander Gudmundur Ludvik and Dane Hee Welling have made their impression on the design world. The two designers both challenge and complement each other in their process of designing – together they find a joint aesthetic expression.
The Danish–Icelandic design duo remove all unnecessary elements from their design. All the details that are in their designs are there for a reason. Quality, comfort and flexibility are extremely important elements for Ludvik and Welling.
