In the Southern part of Norway, more precisely Kristiansand, you will find a workplace that makes a virtue of creating a welcoming interior environment for their employees. At the Norwegian newspaper Fædrelandsvennen, great collaboration starts with great surroundings – the result: an above average beautiful office.
In 2017, Fædrelandsvennen changed the location of their office, in fact, they moved back to their former address in the district Torvet – ‘back to Torvet’ as they themselves describe it. The management then decided that the new office interior should be something special. They collaborated with a small group of interior architects that helped them create beautiful premises for their over 100 employees.
The project focused on how to provide space for all 100 employees in surroundings that were both welcoming and encouraged interaction between colleagues, both before, during and after work. A large common area was therefore a very important part of the new office. A place where everyone could gather and where the decor was based on a ‘free-seating’ mindset.
And exactly the idea of free-seating made Erik Jørgensen’s Shuffl sofa the obvious choice for the new office. The designer behind Shuffl, Anne Boysen, wanted to design a sofa that could offer flexibility, storage and comfort, which was in line with Fædrelandsvennen’s wishes.
“With Shuffl we had the opportunity to customize the sofa completely to the customer’s needs, and we created a welcoming, soft and exclusive common area with Shuffl both as open and closed modules in colour-coordinated shades of ocean-green”.
