According to the Danish design duo Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen, furniture design is about designing furniture that is so essentially timeless that it can easily be produced in new materials to cater for changing needs. With its new ceramic table top, the Eyes Wood Table is a shining example of just that.
Eyes Wood is a multi-functional modern table intended as a dining table, conference table or as a desk. It is available in several sizes with legs and table top in solid oak with soap or oil finish and in smoked oak and linoleum – and now also with a ceramic top.
ERIK JØRGENSEN’s decision to introduce the ceramic table top in a greyish colour with muted grain patterning reflects the way in which newly developed materials can often be adapted to timeless designs.
While a sensual contrast is created between the dynamic, flecked surface and the matte finish of the oak legs, the solidity and robustness of the surface withstands high-intensity use. This makes the Eyes Wood Table ideal for a busy home, as well as for a bustling conference room or a cosy restaurant. The ceramic plate’s strength allows for a plate thickness of only 12 mm, which emphasises the slim and elegant look of the table.
Johannes Foersom and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen have designed an entire collection of furniture called Eyes Wood.
In addition to the table, the collection comprises dining, conference, bar, office and lounge chairs as well as a side table. ERIK JØRGENSEN and the design duo now add another option to the collection, thereby accentuating the timelessness of the design and making it even easier to integrate the table into private homes as well as public buildings.
