‘Portal’ merges the craftsmanship and innovative knowledge of Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik with Snøhetta’s ability to enhance a sense of place and the physical spaces we inhabit. Everything Elevated helped make the installation a superb blend of the two brands, using design as a tool in the idea process.

Visit websiteCreative forces were merged for this year’s Wallpaper* Handmade exhibition in Milan, as Wallpaper* paired Snøhetta, Everything Elevated and Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik. ‘Portal’ is the result of this collaboration. It is an installation in the shape of a seemingly never-ending ladder that invites the spectator to observe it from different perspectives.
‘The installation “Portal” is the result of a holistic approach combined with a variety of creative disciplines that are blended together, resulting in a one-of-a-kind installation,’ explained Stian Rossi, Architect March Snøhetta.
‘The installation has been carefully curated as a monolithic piece that invites the spectator to observe it from different perspectives, from a distance in the architectural space of Santa Teresa Mediatheque in Milan to the closest detail of the high-quality leather stitching,’ says Rossi.
‘It was important to us that we created something seemingly simple. However, when you look close, it is in fact a very detailed installation with leather and stitching that beautifully show classic Erik Jørgensen techniques and also why we are the best at upholstery,’ said Niels Jørgensen, CEO of Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik.
A portal is something that can elevate you from one place to another, which is the illusion that people should feel when looking at the piece. The ladder seems never-ending due to the two mirrors at each end of the stair.
